Heartbroken

Angel's condition has taken a bad turn. She refuses to eat, drink or interact with any of us. She looks terribly depressed and lethargic. She was coming good with her leg, but now, she looks ill. After reading THIS article, I am beyond worried with grief and totally shattered.

    1. Thanks soulsis. I was a total basketcase this afternoon. I ended up taking Angel to a different clinic... One that my friend Rachel suggested. They specialise only in feline veterinary medicine. The doc was soooo nice. She really understand cats and how sensitive and stress they can get (and their owners too!) She took a blood sample to get analysed to see if her kidneys are okay. She also had a good feel of her leg. She said it's unlikely to be muscular... That type of injury shouldn't cause pain for such a long time. After doing some traction to her leg (and poor Angel meowing in pain), she believes it's nerve damage... Possibly her hip or (most likely) a vertebrae. What had her perplexed is the fact that she wouldn't eat or drink by herself... That "momma" had to "serve" everything to her. She told this helicopter parent to leave her be for a couple of days and see if she can do so herself (but by all means, not to let her starve, but not to "hang around and hold the plate for her".) So one more week of touch and go... Otherwise, it's back to the clinic for a CT scan. Yes, a cat scan for a cat. X-rays only show bones but not nerves or soft tissues... A CT scan does. This would give a more definite diagnosis. As they say... "We're not out of the woods, yet!" :(

    2. Well I'm glad you went to a vet who is more of a cat specialist, and I'm very happy her kidneys are okay. Being a mom is a tough job - hugs to you and Angel!

    3. I think Angel appreciates this new clinic too... Much quieter (no barking dogs.) She slept in our bedroom last night (under the bed), and this morning, Mia coaxed her out to come and eat bickies with her and she did! :D She's even used the litterbox in the bathroom. The crazy moron wanted to jump up on the counter and top of the fridge (I successfully stopped her from doing so.) I'm starting to think that perhaps she wasn't eating from the pain, but she may have felt left-out, stressed and depressed. She seems happier now (and so is her human momma.) :)

  2. Goodness!! I'm so sorry to hear that Angel has taken a turn for the worse, sending many hugs your way. Sounds like it was a good thing to get a second opinion, poor little girl. I hope that she picks up in the next week and gets well soon.

    More hugs,

    Ariel xo

    1. She's a trooper, faerysis. :) I think this whole time, she was trying to tell us both to "back off" and let her life get back to normal. :) She's still sore and can easily re-hurt herself, but for the next week, we'll confine her to our bedroom when we can't monitor her, and let her do her thing in the "normally set-up" house. Still not ready to re-open the staircase yet... Not by a longshot! She needs to walk and jump easily before we allow her to trudge up and down like she use to.
