Playing nurse

Yes... hubby is sick, once more. It appears to be that same dreaded virus as last time. It seems to flare up when hubby runs himself ragged, and he's sure done so these past few days. He has a big job going on, and the worry is, he's only half-way through! Plus, he has many jobs booked ahead as well... He really can't afford to be sick! :( Please send some healing vibes to my poor sweetie! I'll be shelving my project for a while and playing nurse until he feels better. In the meantime, if any of you are under-the-weather as he is, here's a failsafe mulled wine recipe that kicks the lurgies to the curb ASAP. It's also excellent on cold winter nights (like we've been having). If you prefer a non-alcoholic version, you could probably substitute the red wine for concord juice.

Mulled wine recipe

2 cups of red wine (or concord juice)
1 cup of orange juice
The rind of one orange (make sure you use organic or thoroughly wash the skin with soap first)
4 tbsp of honey
2 stick of cinnamon or 1 tsp of powdered cinnamon
1" piece of grated fresh ginger or 1/4 tsp of powdered ginger
2 pinches of nutmeg

Whack the whole thing in a pot and warm up on the stovetop. DO NOT BOIL! You'll end up with syrup. Discard the chunks of ginger and the rind, or better yet, filter through a sieve. Serve hot. Enjoy!

  1. Healing thoughts and prayers to (((D)))! May his immune system make short work of this virus.
Rest and relax, and let your body recuperate. I'm sure if you tell the folks you have contracts with that you have a virus, they would prefer you to stay home! Hugs and love to you and your "nurse."

  2. Hubby and I thank you, luv. Yes... It does appear his immune system is killing this thing ASAP. He's been coughing up crap all day and his head is feeling clearer. It's now moved down in his chest, but he's feeling much much better. He reckons the magic grog did the trick... I reckon it's all those lovely thoughts and prayers that were sent. :) ((((hugs))))

  3. Another tasty sounding medicinal recipe. Thank you! I'm keeping these tucked somewhere safe for our winter. Keep emitting, hubby. ;)

  4. I have a few tested and proven recipe I keep for those "under-the-weather" days. I realised that replacing red wine with concord juice might be too sweet with all that oj and honey! Might wanna omit the honey and reduce the oj if you use concord juice... Unless you fancy a diabetic coma! LOL! :D
